During the quarantine, I have been reluctant to pick up the pen/open my laptop and begin to do the thing I told myself I would: write.
For reasons that are obvious, the world is going through a global hurt – some self-inflicted and some not.
At first, we were firefighting a deadly virus, the ‘rona, who indiscriminately infected and took lives.
Now, Black Lives Matter has infiltrated our social media and minds – where we once were worried about when we could get our haircut, we are now worried about the historical, long-standing oppression of Black people.
All of this has weighed heavy on me in the past couple of weeks. But, I want to try and keep writing to encourage myself to keep going, keep reading, keep learning, keep thinking.
My need to write has come after a long period of slumping and sadness, so I’m hoping this creative outlet might bring some joy to someone out there.
